IGHSAU Policy on State Championship Event Media Credentials: The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union shall grant, at the discretion of management, media access credentials for its state championship events to radio, television, print and on-line media to those organizations or companies which routinely provide coverage during regular season play for either teams or individuals which are participating in the tournament, or which regularly offer general coverage of the sport.  The number of credentials issued to each organization or company shall be held to the discretion of management.  Private talent evaluators, scouting services, etc. shall not be granted access to areas of any venue restricted for media access.

Press that plan to cover the 2022 State Soccer Tournament at the Cownie Sports Complex must e-mail  their credential requests to Jason Eslinger ([email protected]) by NOON Friday, May 27. Media that fail to meet this deadline must purchase a ticket at the main entrance.  The IHSAA/IGHSAU all-Tournament media pass will be honored at the State Soccer Tournament. All other media must e-mail their requests to Jason Eslinger at [email protected].  Student publications must purchase a ticket and report to the press gate to exchange tickets for credentials with Jason.

Radio Information: Radio stations will be allowed to originate a live broadcast of the 2022 State Soccer Tournament for $150 per match. Stations must bring $150 to the press entrance to broadcast. Radio stations are encouraged to bring tables and extension cords as power sources and seating are very limited at the  Cownie complex fields.

Parking: The Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department charges $10.00 to park at the Cownie Soccer Complex. Please plan accordingly.  Cownie officials have asked that spectators NOT park on the grass medians. Cars parked on the grass medians will be ticketed.

We ask that all photographers please stay within the sideline restrictions while matches are going on. A reminder that photography passes are limited to media only. Private photography studios will not receive credentials.

Once you are admitted into the Cownie Sports Complex, there is a small work trailer available for media to use. However, I have been told that the wireless signal is very weak and hot spots will be needed to have internet access at Cownie.  This area will be first-come, first serve and space is very limited. Media are also asked to provide their power sources (power strips, extension cords, etc.).

Feel free to contact Jason Eslinger if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you at the Cownie Complex next week.
