Welcome to the Iowa Girls State Swimming and Diving Meet. We are excited about the new prelim/final format. With this new format comes some significant changes to meet operations. Please read the following information carefully.

Gymnasium No Longer Available to Spectators: Adding eight more schools in state qualifying relays in addition to having eight more individual qualifiers in every event has precipitated moving the teams into the YMCA/YWCA gymnasium to headquarter during the meet.  This move will allow for more seating in the competition pool for spectators. With this change, the gym will no longer serve as the entrance to spectators.

Directions to the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA:  Driving directions to the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA can be viewed by clicking the Google Map page. Simply enter your starting point on Google Maps to get turn by turn directions to the State Meet site.

Marshalltown Information: A list of restaurants, hotels and attractions in Marshalltown can be viewed by clicking here: https://www.marshalltown.org/visit/things-to-do/. Due to the tornado that hit Marshalltown in July, it is recommended that you call establishments ahead of time to make sure that they are open.

Sessions:There are now three sessions to the State Swimming & Diving Meet. The preliminary swimming events will take place Friday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. The State Diving Meet will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3.  The natatorium will be cleared of all spectators at the conclusion of the State Diving Meet. The State Swimming Finals (including all state qualifying relay events) will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3. Tickets:There are two ways to purchase tickets. Tickets may be purchased online at the GoFan State Swimming & Diving websiteand also at on-site at the natatorium entrance located on the north side of the complex. All tickets purchased at the YMCA/YWCA must be paid in cash.

Go Fan Tickets:It is recommended that spectators purchase tickets online with GoFan Digital Huddle Tickets. Tickets are now on sale by clicking on the GoFan website.  By ordering your tickets online, your state swimming and diving tickets are delivered to your mobile device and validated onsite at the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA. You will also be able to enter the Friday Swimming prelims and Saturday finals 30 minutes earlier. GoFan ticket holders for the Saturday finals will also be provided with free heat sheets (1 heat sheet per ticket holder).  Tickets are $10.00 for each session. There is a $1.50 handling fee to purchase online.

IF YOU PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE - DO NOT VALIDATE OR REDEEM YOUR TICKETS PRIOR TO THE STATE MEET.

Entering the Natatorium: Spectators will enter through the natatorium main entrance on the north side of the YMCA/YWCA. There will be two lines: one line for spectators purchasing tickets in advance at the GoFan website and another line for spectators purchasing tickets at the YMCA/YWCA.

  1. Friday Swimming Prelims:The GoFan ticketholders will be admitted at 4:00 p.m. while spectators purchasing tickets on site will be admitted at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
  2. Saturday Diving:There will be a single line that opens 8:00 a.m.
  3. Saturday Finals:Go-Fan ticketholders will be admitted at 2:30 p.m. Spectators purchasing tickets at the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCAwill be admitted at 3:00 p.m.

ALL TICKETS ARE GENERAL ADMISSION – Saving seats is prohibited and will be monitored by onsite security. Anyone that is caught saving seats will be removed from the natatorium.

Parking: There is ample, free parking available in the YMCA/YWCA lots. Please note that the Marshalltown railroad and railroad tracks are near the YMCA/YWCA facility. Do NOT park on or near these tracks or on the Marshallown Railroad property or you will towed. The Marshalltown Sea Cadets will be on-site to assist spectators.

Wristbands: Spectators MUST wear the wristband to gain entry into the natatorium. The wristband is your ticket and allows entrance in and out of the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA. Anyone who leaves the building without a wristband will not be allowed back into the building unless another wristband is purchased. There will be a different colored wristband for each session. A reminder to spectators that smoking is prohibited anywhere on the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA grounds.

Spectators traveling in RV’s/Campers: The Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA will not allow camper/RV’s in the YMCA/YWCA lots until NOON, Friday, November 2.  Spectators traveling in RV’s/Campersare expected to park them in the YMCA/YWCA East Parking lot. NO GRILLS OR FIRES IN THE PARKING LOT.

MERCHANDISE:Image Sportwill be selling Official 2018 State Swimming merchandise throughout the meet. Programs will also be on sale at the merchandise area for $5.00. There will be heat sheets for the Saturday finals on sale at the merchandise area.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Chris Pose photography will be taking photos of this year’s State Swimming & Diving Meet.

FILMING: There is no special place designated for teams or fans to videotape from.  Paying spectators are not restricted from videotaping as long as the video equipment is hand-held.
