Media Information for Covering the 2022 State Volleyball Tournament

IGHSAU Policy on Requesting State Tournament Credentials: The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union shall grant, at the discretion of management, media access credentials for its state championship events to radio, television, print and on-line media to those organizations or companies which routinely provide coverage during regular season play for either teams or individuals which are participating in the tournament, or which regularly offer general coverage of the sport.  The number of credentials issued to each organization or company shall be held to the discretion of management.  Private talent evaluators, scouting services, photography studios, etc. shall not be granted access to areas of any venue restricted for media access.

Media wishing to cover the 2022 Iowa State Volleyball Tournament need to email their requests Sherry Tegtmeier at [email protected] by Noon, Friday, October 28.   You will receive an email confirmation from Sherry when your email is received. Please be cognizant of this deadlineAnyone making media requests after the Oct. 28th deadline will have to purchase a ticket for their first-round match.

High School Newspaper and Yearbook Staffs: School publications must email their requests to Sherry Tegtmeier ([email protected]) by noon, Friday, October 28.  These requests must come from a school administrator. Student publications must purchase a ticket and present it to the personnel at the media check-in table to exchange credentials.

IGHSAU/IHSAA All-Tournament Passes: Media that have the 2022-23 Tournament pass do not need to request credentials. However, it is helpful to let us know if you plan to cover the tournament. A reminder: The media area, materials and credentials are intended for working media. Do not abuse this privilege. Please limit your requests to actual working media members.

Media Parking and Check-in: Media may park in any of the public lots that are available. However, there will be designated parking for media in the Coralville Convention and Business Bureau (900 1st Ave. – Click here to view map). Spaces are first-come-first-serve and media must display some form of media ID to gain access to the media lot. Upon parking, the media entrance is through the GreenState Family Fieldhouse on the south end of Xtream Arena (Click here to view map)

Statistics & Interviews: Post match interviews will take place in the media workroom, which is Court 5of the GreenState Family Fieldhous connected to Xtream Arena. All interviews will be conducted in the media workroom. Do not attempt to interview coaches or players on the court or outside the designated interview area. The media workroom will have statistics available after each match and all stats will also be posted on the IGHSAU website. 

Phone Line Order Information:  Phone lines will not be available to order. Courtside media tables will have internet patches for ethernet connections. Please bring your own ethernet cables along with power strips/extension cords.

BROADCASTING INFORMATION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

Radio Stations: Radio stations will be allowed to originate a live broadcast of an IGHSAU Iowa High School State Tournament/Playoff/Championship/ Event/Meet for the following rights fees: Volleyball – $150.00 per match.  ALL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO THE IOWA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC UNION (IGHSAU) AND MUST BE PRESENTED TO HEIDI REED WHEN ENTERING XTREAM ARENA THROUGH THE MEDIA ENTRANCE.

LIVE AUDIO STREAMING, AUDIO ARCHIVING OR DELAYED AUDIO REPLAY OF THE BROADCAST IS ALLOWED. Specialized radio or television broadcasts or acquiring content for live or delayed broadcasts may be subject to a rights fee charge. There is no charge for live updates of an IGHSAU Iowa High School State Volleyball Tournament.

Tournament/Playoff/Championship/Event. A live update is a broadcast from a station representative with press credentials that takes no longer than five minutes per hour and does not include “play by play” coverage during the update.
