Girls Soccer Memo

It is hard to believe the postseason season is quickly approaching. There have been great matches throughout the regular season!
SITE AVAILABILITY: If you would like your soccer complex considered for a Regional Tournament site, please have your athletic director complete the site availability form on Bound by 8 am on April 25th.
REGIONAL SOCCER PAIRINGS: Class 1A Regional soccer pairings will be released the week of May 5th- May 8 or 9. Class 2A and Class 3A pairings will be posted the week of May 12th (May 15 or 16). The Regional pairings will be listed on the IGHSAU website and Twitter.
EJECTIONS: Ejections (players and coaches) must be reported to the IGHSAU the following business day of the ejection. Local administration must meet with the offender and file the ejection form with the IGHSAU. (The ejection form is located under the Coaches & Administrators tab in the Documents and Forms section.) The offender must also file a written summary of the events that led up to the ejection. In addition, the player or coach ejected must view the appropriate video and scan the completed certificate to Gary Ross at gross@igshau.org.
REGULAR SEASON TIES: With the change during regular season games ending in ties, the IGHSAU wanted to share how these ties are being viewed in terms of rankings and eventually in postseason assignments – a tie is viewed as either a “good tie”, a “50-50” tie or a “bad tie”.
REGULAR SEASON ROSTER: The regular season rosters for IGHSAU teams at all levels are a local decision. Please note that the student/athletes who are not dressed for the games (non-players, ineligible players) are to remain behind the team bench area and not interact with the players playing the game, interacting with the officials, or celebrating following a goal being scored. The IGHSAU has received several communications from officials indicating that these student/athletes have been involved in these interactions.
BOUND: Remember, varsity coaches must have their individual game results updated on Bound every Tuesday during the regular season. Coaches are also expected to update their Bound throughout the Regional Tournament series.
SHOUT OUTS: The IGHSAU enjoys recognizing superlative accomplishments from our female student-athletes. If you have a significant accomplishment you would like to mention (school record broken, coaching milestone wins, etc.), let us know, and we will do our best to mention your athletes’ accomplishments on our Twitter account. 2025 STATE SOCCER TOURNAMENT: The 2025 spring State Girl’s Soccer State Tournament will be held at Iowa State University (Lied Recreational fields) on June 3, 5 (quarterfinals and semi-finals) with the state championship games being played at the Cyclone Sports Complex on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Tuesday, June 3
Class 1A: 10:00 am, 10:15 am, 11:45 am, 12:00 pm
Class 2A: 1:30 pm, 1:45 pm, 3:15 pm, 3:30 pm
Class 3A: 5:00 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:45 pm, 7:00 pm
Thursday, June 5
Class 1A: 12:00 pm, 12:15 pm
Class 2A: 2:30 pm, 2:45 pm
Class 3A: 5:00 pm, 5:15 pm
Saturday, June 7 (order of championship games to avoid possible conflict with IHSAA and IGHSAU championship games)
IGHSAU Class 1A: 11:30 am
IGHSAU Class 3A: 2:30 pm
IGHSAU Class 2A: 5:30 pm
Please note the order and times of the championship games on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This change in the order of the IGHSAU championships is due to the IGHSAU and IHSAA coordinating championship games to avoid conflicts if a girls’ team and boys’ team are both playing in the championship games (the IHSAA is also adjusting the order of their championship games). Also, note that the IHSAA boys soccer championships will be held at Drake University.
