Hinton earned its spot in the Class 2A state semifinals with a four-set win over Iowa City Regina on Tuesday at the Iowa State Volleyball Tournament in Coralville. The Blackhawks took the match 25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 25-23 to improve their record to 29-2. Iowa City Regina closed its season at 30-14.

Bailey Boeve powered Hinton with 28 kills and nine digs, while Ellie Friessen added nine kills and five digs. Karlyn Kovarna contributed eight kills and 19 digs, and setter Addison Dunkel handed out 27 assists. Brynlee Boeve and Adalyn Ortegren led the defense with 11 digs.

Reese Naeve led Iowa City Regina with 29 kills and 14 digs, while Nora Wilhelm recorded 38 assists. Libero Addison Bollier led the Regals’ defense with 24 digs.

Hinton advances to face second-ranked Dike-New Hartford in the Class 2A semifinals at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday.
