CORALVILLE, Iowa — November 3, 2025 — Sioux Center advanced to the Class 4A state semifinals with a four-set victory over Marion, winning 27–25, 19–25, 25–14, 25–21 on Monday at Xtream Arena.
The Warriors, now 29-4, used an efficient attack and solid defensive effort to control the match after splitting the first two sets. Sioux Center hit .284 as a team, finishing with 62 kills and seven total blocks, while Marion hit .165 with 48 kills.
Courtney Schmidt led Sioux Center with 21 kills on a .476 hitting percentage. Maryn Franken added 17 kills and 19 digs, and Adison Brantsen contributed 12 kills. Setter Taylor Holverson paced the offense with 30 assists.
Sioux Center pulled out a close first set, 27–25, after several late ties. Marion responded in the second with improved serve-receive and a .364 hitting percentage to even the match. The Warriors regained control in the third, using a .286 attack rate and dominant net play to win 25–14. Sioux Center closed the match in the fourth, pulling ahead midway through and holding off a late Marion rally to secure the 25–21 win.
Marion, which finished the season 28-14, was led by Abbey Kirk with 14 kills and Hayden Dietz and Braelin Wieseler with eight each. Setter Grace Whalen recorded 36 assists, and Grace Whalen had 17 digs.
Sioux Center advances to the Class 4A semifinals and will play at 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday.
