Weekly Training Tip #24 - Battle Ropes
Battle ropes can be used to target a wide variety of movement patterns, muscle groups, and energy systems. Performing the movement can help highlight and improve core strength and shoulder strength. Adding movements can target a wide variety of musculature. For example, the "burpee slam" targets a full body movement pattern. Battle ropes are a great supplement to add during interval training or circuits. By changing rest periods and time performing the movement, we can also target multiple energy systems as well, thus creating value for multiple sports. Given a base of strength that allows the movement to be performed, battle ropes are good for all ages and skill levels. The complexity of the movements and possible variations also makes this a great tool to target multiple movement patterns that are prevalent in multiple sports.
