ADs and Tennis Coaches-
Tennis season is in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited! We need your help with the following items as we get started.
The 2023 Tennis Manual is on the IGHSAU tennis page. Be sure to refresh yourself with the rules for this year. Along those lines, the rules meeting must be completed by tonight (March 30th) at midnight. This is mandatory for all head coaches and can be found on Bound.
After logging into Bound, you can find the rules meeting in two ways:
- Click on the “Activity” feed on your dashboard and select “2023 Tennis Rules Meeting Open”
- Click the IGHSAU logo on the left menu, then under Forms select “2023 Tennis Rules Meeting”
Coaches are not allowed to coach at the tournament level until this is completed!
State Singles and Doubles Tennis will take place on May 26 and 27 with Class 1A in Waterloo at Byrnes Park Tennis Center and Class 2A in Iowa City at the University of Iowa Tennis Center.
The first round of State Team Tennis will be on May 20 and 22 at multiple sites across the state for each class. The final rounds of State Team Tennis will take place on May 30 at Johnston High School for Class 2A and Waukee Northwest for Class 1A. Finally, the State Co-ed Tournament will be held on June 6 at Marshalltown for 2A and Pella for 1A.
Tentative tennis classifications for this season are linked at the bottom of this memo. Please double check to make sure your BEDs numbers are correct. Also, please check to see if your cooperative sharing agreement is correct and that your combined BEDs numbers add up correctly. Please notify Erin Kirtley ([email protected]) of any errors concerning classifications as soon as possible.
A reminder that we are still accepting site availability requests from school for consideration of postseason play. You can also find this under the Forms section on Bound.
We wish you and your program the best of luck for the upcoming tennis season. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
